Catholic Media Association Announces Opening Date of 57th Annual Gabriel Awards Program

CHICAGO, Illinois (Oct. 31, 2022) — The Catholic Media Association announced today the submission period for the 2023 Gabriel Awards will officially open Nov. 7. Information about the awards program is available at:

Updates to the 2023 awards program include new individual excellence categories and a special early bird rate for entries received during the week of Nov. 7-13. The awards competition is open to all media organizations for projects released during the 2022 calendar year.

Established in 1965, the Gabriel Awards honor broadcasting, film and digital productions that serve viewers and listeners through the positive, creative treatment of concerns to humankind. Using themes of dignity, compassion, community, and justice, Gabriel Awards Finalists inspire others to act with greater respect and concern for others.

The list of Gabriel Awards Finalists will be announced on April 17, 2023. Gabriel Awards Winners will be announced and honored at a special reception and presentation June 8, 2023, during the annual Catholic Media Conference in Baltimore. First Place winners receive a Gabriel Statue, with runners-up receiving an award certificate. All winning entries receive recognition at the Gabriel Awards reception, are featured in the annual Award’s Issue of The Catholic Journalist, and promoted on the Catholic Media Association’s social media channels.
