What screened in 2026
A look at films from a recent Film & Media Center lineup.
Sacred Heart: His Reign Has No End
A French docudrama tracing the 17th-century apparitions of the Sacred Heart to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque, blending historical reenactments with modern-day testimonies of healing and renewal. Directed by Sabrina and Steven Gunnell, the film was a box-office success in Europe before its 2026 U.S. theatrical run.
Debating Statues & Saints
A documentary examining the debate over removing statues of St. Junípero Serra across California, using that flashpoint to explore broader polarization in American society and the search for common ground through listening and dialogue.
American Martyr: The Stanley Rother Story
Narrated by Martin Sheen, this feature documentary tells the story of Blessed Stanley Rother, an Oklahoma-born priest who served the Indigenous Tz’utujil community in Santiago Atitlán, Guatemala, and was killed in 1981 rather than abandon his parish during the country’s civil war. Rother is the first American-born priest recognized as a martyr by the Catholic Church.
